The second full day of total lockdown. Stephen was still in bed for most of the day and when he did try to get up I sent him straight back to bed as he was clearly still not well. He said he was feeling slightly better but still wiped out and needed to sleep lots. It’s tricky as I know he wants to help me with everything I am doing but he can’t until he‘s better.
The day started with the kids joining me in bed. It was actually really lovely (mostly) and there was room for us all with Stephen sleeping downstairs. I feel we may need to consider a king size bed for the future to accommodate full-family cuddles. James kept playing with his willy (aren’t boys delightful) and then both kids tried to lick my face. Because why not. Apparently it’s hilarious – you should try it.
Breakfast was thanks to Uncle Henry getting up early and dropping bread on the doorstep at 7.45am. We got to have toast! James requested superhero toast whereas Genevieve wanted hers shaped like Harry Potter. Both were pleased with results but thankfully I have no photographic evidence as they were truly terrible.
After breakfast I went with more iPad time. It’s a cop out but enabled me to have a tiny break to get some tidying and washing done.
Then our food superheroes Auntie Daisy and Uncle Ben came to the rescue with emergency supplies of food. I was so grateful. They even asked if we needed Easter eggs. I don’t usually get the kids loads as they don’t do so well on too much chocolate but hell, I needed some. I was nice and got the children one small egg one each, but also got myself two massive ones. Lol. I cannot wait to tuck into those bad boys on Easter Sunday!

Once all the food was put away, we went into the garden to attempt some obstacle course challenges with all the awesome borrowed garden play stuff from Grandma Margaret combined with stuff we already had. Currently the slide and “boing rackets” are equally most popular!
Lunch was pizza baps as Uncle Ben’s autocorrect had changed wraps to baps on the shopping list. I actually find this really funny, but the kids were not impressed with the lack of salami wraps. I thought the pizza baps were delicious though!
The afternoon was Lego themed. Once the Lego was assembled and both kids were playing I had a sofa snooze until James woke me up by thrusting pointy pieces of Lego he had built into my face. Opening your eyes to find a very pointy piece of Lego millimetres from your eyeball will really rouse you quickly. Lol. Nothing like an adrenaline rush to really make you move!
Then we opened the latest letters from Grandma Lindsey and Grandad Lawrie. They are such lovely things to receive and read, and the little activities inside are always greatly enjoyed by Genevieve and James.

The last activity of the day before the calls with Grandma Lindsey was more slide fun in the garden. I am so grateful for all the glorious weather while we are on lockdown. It’s really helping to keep the kids entertained and occupied and, in turn, me sane.

Just as dinner was ready Stephen the hero came rushing into the kitchen – he had managed to secure us an Ocado delivery for Sunday (after 48 hours of near-constant updating of the Ocado website while lying in bed). Hurrah! Cue slightly overdone rice but the curry still tasted OK. We have a food delivery!
I’m ending the day with Criminal Minds, decaf tea and chocolate on the sofa. I call that winning.
