An egg-stremely egg-citing day of chocolate egg-cess

Easter had finally arrived! The kids were so excited. In fact, the first thing James asked as he came into my room was “Mummy, is it Easter yet?”. So adorable, and the cuddles in bed from both Genevieve and James were lovely.

With Stephen ill in bed, the breakfast toast requests threatened to stretch my abilities. The kids wanted Easter bunnies and Easter eggs. I hope I rose to the challenge – I took the pictures below as evidence.

After breakfast we watched an Easter Sunday church service online. The kids loved the starting song which involved jumping, spinning around and shouting. While I listened to the sermon, they played with Lego and made Easter cards. It was certainly a good way to distract them so that I could actually listen to the service.

Later in the morning James managed to cover himself (and the sofa) in glitter. He had found one of the unused packets from yesterday’s fairy doors and decided to rip it open. Bring on the Dyson! James thought that being vacuumed was hilarious.

Genevieve did some amazing scratch drawings including one of the Harry Potter crew. She was so decisive and confident with the scratchings, and the drawings were brilliant. However, she had wandered from room to room while scratching which meant that there were little black shavings spread all over the house. Bring on the Dyson, again!

Easter Sunday wouldn’t be complete without an Easter egg hunt. I used some clues I’d found online to create a treasure hunt around the house. It was greatly enjoyed (although there was some bickering about who found the next clue), especially when the end was reached and lots of eggs were located.

After consuming said chocolate, I got out the water table, paint brushes and rollers for some fun in the sun. Before we knew it, it was then time for Grandma Lindsey chats.

Overall the day had been very tricky. The kids started to realise and understand that things were not quite right with Stephen and that he was very poorly, so it had been tough for them emotionally.

But I got an Ocado shop so we had food in the house (a great relief) and the kids were really looking forward to sharing the same bed that night (what had I left myself in for?!) so it wasn’t all bad. Plus, I had something that would help make it all better…
