Rainbow sharks, apple crumble and a temperature spike

There’s slightly less detail in this entry (and the following few entries) as it was when I was particularly ill. The family was in survival mode so there was less time to update the blogs. Nonetheless, we still had fun and continued to pack plenty in to the days.

The children began the day by opening letters from Grandma Lindsey and Grandad Lawrie. There was some Easter colouring and a couple of games, but the big excitement came when they discovered the mini version of Dobble. They couldn’t wait for the afternoon FaceTime session to test it out (even though we had no idea how it would work virtually).

A day or two earlier I had succumbed to James’s relentless requests to “watch Baby Shark”. I dutifully found a random Pink Fong video on YouTube and pressed play. It turned out that it included some drawing and colouring rather than the usual mind-numbing music and animation. The children were particularly excited by the rainbow Baby Shark. Megan arranged an artistic session where each of them draw and then coloured in their own Baby Sharks. I feel like Megan showed off a tad with her rainbow shark but the kids didn’t seem to mind.

In addition to the artwork, Megan and the children also got creative in the kitchen. Apples were sliced, spiced and cooked, and a bowl of crumble topping was mixed together – what a treat. Megan and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to the ideal crumble to filling ratio (I prefer a thinner layer and tarter apples), but she was head chef and so in charge of all things crumble for the day. The children gobbled up a healthy portion for pudding along with half a can of squirty cream each.

I continued to sleep and rest for most of the day. My temperature got up to a frankly unheard of 38.8°C – sadly there’s no sign of it disappearing any time soon.
