Easter is over – back to homeschooling

Stephen woke up this morning without a temperature for the first time in over two weeks. We think he might finally be getting over this nasty illness. He also is feeling better in himself, but is still very tired in comparison to how he normally would be. He hugged the children for the first time since getting sick – it was a lovely moment. It’s really been emotional being able to touch each other again after two weeks of distancing. I’ve missed my cuddles.

After breakfast the kids started the day with some Trolls themed Cosmic Yoga while I had a shower. Stephen then went off to have a shower and I started the home schooling for the day (the first day “back” after the Easter “break”). Genevieve was pretty good at deciding the order in which she was going to tackle her daily challenges and doing them, until she actually had to write it all down. But the creativity was good!

James had work to do too. This week is dinosaur week at preschool so we got out the dinosaur box and started to order them by height. James decided they needed to be with their families so we sorted them by type too. Then he had a dinosaur treasure hunt with Daddy in the garden. This was followed up with dinosaurs in the kinetic sand. All the dinosaur fun.

After lunch we went into the garden for a bit so that I could finish sorting out all the bedding from the playroom that Stephen has been sleeping in for the last two weeks. No temperature means he can be back in our bed. Hurrah!!! The kids started with a dinosaur treasure hunt that quickly devolved into arguments so I got the window pens out again. James coloured a dinosaur scene whilst Genevieve drew a rainbow and a princess.

By this point I was a bit done for the day so we started to watch The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I’ve not seen the live action version before and, I have to say, I think the cartoon is way better. I am definitely a child of the 80s!

This brought us seamlessly to FaceTime chat time with Grandma Lindsey. James went first with a story about Goldilocks and the Three Bears (with another Grandad Lawrie cameo as the woodcutter). Genevieve played the longest game of snakes and ladders (including a fair amount of cheating – she was rolling many more sixes than statistically likely). She takes after her Uncle Graham.

We enjoyed an easy dinner of pizza followed by bed for the kids and chill time for us.

I’m hoping the days will get easier from here, especially as tomorrow we can all leave the house for a walk. We’re allowed outside again – the self-isolation is over! HURRAH!!!
