The two weeks of self-isolating had officially finished. Although my temperature was no longer high, I still didn’t feel well enough to leave the house but Megan and the children were able to escape. They were finally free to roam as they pleased (but made sure they maintained social distancing and kept their escapades to under an hour).
Megan found a water colouring book in the cupboard that proved to be a big hit with the kids. Despite the promise of “mess free fun”, the children still managed to splash the mucky water everywhere (including our beautifully white walls) and generally cause havoc. I’m going to have to repaint most of the house once lockdown has finished.
Lunch also proved to be a messy affair. The children wanted to eat the giant Wotsits I’d received in my recovery package from Kat and Seb (is nothing sacred?!). This meant that the table was soon covered in orange crumbs as were the kids’ faces. It also became apparent that Genevieve needs lessons in eating etiquette – she’s utterly gross!

After lunch the kids rummaged through the dressing up cupboard. Based on the state of the playroom I’m convinced that they took out every single item of clothing (even though they only ended up wearing 5% of it). Despite addressing the issue many, many times, the concept of tidying up after themselves had clearly not sunk in.
Megan and the kids went for a walk to soak up the sunshine and appreciate the beautiful tree blossom. They loved being outside – it had been so hard for them to stay indoors for two weeks, especially as the weather had been so glorious.
After the walk Genevieve decided she was going to start writing a top secret diary. However, she said she wants to show it to me, and to Mummy and James, and to her family and all her friends at school, and to the big toy monkey down the road, but (importantly) not to anybody that she doesn’t know. It’s an interesting definition of “top secret” but I love that she was thinking about writing her own diary. She’ll be writing and editing this blog before you know it!
