My amazing This Mum Runs (“TMR”) running group had a follow-up surprise after yesterday’s brilliant delivery. Not content with just sending me a care package, they had also sent me some absolutely beautiful flowers in the post. They’re gorgeous – I can’t wait to watch them bloom!
As a weekend treat we set the kids up on the Wii. They had so fun, especially with the sword fighting game. There were non-stop shouts of “hit him, hit him, hit him” and much excited jumping around the room. The two main downsides were that (1) they hate losing so went in to insta-sulks if they didn’t win a particular game, and (2) there was a big comedown after all the excitement so they were almost unbearable in the afternoon. We can’t win!
When the kids were behaving in the afternoon we made the most of the sunshine and played in the garden. Apparently it’s going to rain a lot next week so this may be our last chance for garden fun for a while.
I had another surprise delivery in the afternoon. This once was from my friend Kate who’s been worrying about me. She sent me a gorgeous Little Miss Hug biscuit from Biscuiteers – it’s almost too pretty to eat (almost). I have such lovely friends.

Once the kids were asleep Stephen and I sat down for dinner. For pudding I made sure we’d pre-heated the oven for my Gooey Rascal. Yesterday’s one was delicious, but having a warm, oozing chocolate centre takes it to another level! I’ve had to freeze the remaining four cakes – I look forward to eating them in the future. Yum!
Stephen was feeling a bit better so I had my first drink since the ambulance turned up a couple of weeks ago. I had a (very well earned) large measure of Bakewell tart gin with a lemonade mixer. It’s a drink I discovered while on holiday in Blackpool last year – it’s just as delicious as I remember! We had a lovely cuddle as we continued to binge Jack Ryan on the TV. So, so good!
