Today was a good day. The kids were calm and kind during breakfast. It makes such a difference to the whole day – it just depends on how they wake up! Today I was grateful for their calm and loving natures.
They had breakfast and then were willing to get their work done while I waited for a lovely running friend to drop off some spare garden turf that another mutual running friend had going spare.
Genevieve did absolutely brilliant maths work – breaking the number 20 down and working out other ways she could make it. We got all technical with the Dulpo bricks and I attempted to show her what division was (on a very basic level). She was fab and happily wrote up our findings. In fact, she was so good that we even chose another number to repeat the exercise with.
By this point, the turf had arrived, Genevieve was happily doing her English book cover design and James was doing some amazing counting work with Stephen, so I seized the opportunity and went for a run.

I’ve got no idea how I did it, but I smashed it on my run today. My pace was sub 6 minutes for my first 1K and I also achieved my second fastest 5K ever. It was also definitely my fastest 6K as that’s how far I ran! Oh, and I might have had help from my amazing new Care Bear running leggings. They were a tad expensive but totally worth it.
Once I had done my run and had showered it was pretty much time for lunch.
Stephen had a chat with the GP today. There was good and bad news: he has something called post-vial fatigue syndrome. It’s good we know why he’s still struggling and feeling so rotten, but rubbish that this may last a few weeks longer.
After lunch we tackled the garden. The kids helped while I dug up the areas of dead grass Stephen and I had decided we would use the bonus turf to replace. It was a labour of love. I think I will ache tomorrow, but the end results look awesome. I just hope it all takes!
We paused during the gardening work for well-earned ice lollies. Genevieve also took the opportunity to sunbathe. Once I’d managed to get her standing up again, we then finished the gardening by turning over some of the remaining bald patches in the lawn and laying more grass seed.
It was then time for dinner and Grandma Lindsey chat time. But just before dinner, we had a quick trip up the road to see the neighbourhood monkey. Today he was hula hooping and I wanted to create a little video for school of me hula hooping with him. Lots of fun for the kids and hopefully it will make some of my students laugh too.

Stephen and I finished the day with fish and chips – our first take away since lock down. I may have also had a well-earned beer.
