Today was “click and collect” shopping day at Sainsbury’s. It’s strange but I actually enjoy popping to the shops as feels like such a normal “pre-Covid” thing to do. It’s also something where I leave the kids with Stephen so I get some headspace.
I was going into the supermarket before the collection slot today but bumped in to one of the awesome Newman preschool ladies in the car park. We had a lovely catch up and was just good to see her. Once I was in Sainsbury’s I was able to buy supplies for the food bank, the pop-up NHS staff shop and, more importantly, gather anything I had forgotten or couldn’t add to the online shop. I actually managed to get almond croissants for the first time since lockdown. I was so happy!! It was delicious and I’ve got another for breakfast tomorrow too!
Once I was home (having dropped the goodies at the NHS pop-up shop), I had to join a quick Zoom call for work. It was amusing as I had to mute my end because the kids were playing so loudly (although my team said how good that was – the cheeky lot!).
While I’d been out and about, Stephen had managed to get Genevieve to finish both her maths and English work for the day. It’s a miracle!
Because she’d finished already (and because Stephen was trying to entertain the kids without tiring himself out), they had moved on to playing Wii Sports. They had lots of fun and James even mastered bowling all by himself. He’s getting really good at the game and even got over 100 as his final score! By this point Stephen was knackered so he went for a sleep.
For lunch, James had requested tomato soup. Genevieve managed to make an awful mess. Standard behaviour.
After lunch, I was able to pop out to collect the clean winter duvets from the dry cleaners before we all headed out for a lovely family walk. James refused to pose for photos…

…but he did make some excellent dandelion wishes that partly made up for his grumpy behaviour:
1. I wish that the sickness will go away!
2. I wish that I could save this [dandelion] for my Mum (whilst blowing it away).
3. I wish that I could save this [dandelion] for my Dad (whilst blowing it away).
Genevieve had more materialistic ideas in mind – I wish to be famous!
Despite James’s camera shyness, we managed to get some more lovely snaps on the walk (including Stephen with buttercups behind his ears – adorable).
Stephen quickly crashed and burned so headed home for a sleep while we continued the walk. We checked out the friendly neighbourhood monkey on his daily activity and today he was doing wallpapering!

After all the walking we came home to open new Grandma Lindsey letters. The children were super excited by their new “cutie-pie” TY babies that had been sent.
After the chat time it was time for homemade pizza dinner and bed. I managed to escape for a little walk whilst they ate and then it was bedtime. Genevieve had already managed to lose her “cutie-pie” baby and was distraught. Thankfully Stephen managed to find it so the house was calm again.
Another day done and this one is finishing with my favourite dinner and a beer! Yeay!
