The kids woke up early so Stephen took them downstairs and got them to help him mix up some batter. He then cooked and tossed enough pancakes to keep them happy (and quiet) so I could have a lie in. Bliss!
Once dressed, we wandered up to the green to undertake a bug hunt as part of one of Genevieve’s Beaver badges. James definitely helped, although there were some arguments about who’d found which bug first. The kids were quite cautious about getting near bees and both shrieked when they found a spider, but otherwise it was a very successful hunt.

While we were walking, Stephen made a beautiful daisy chain that the kids took turns in wearing as a headdress. Gorgeous. It’s amazing how angelic they can seem! Sadly the daisy chain didn’t survive long but it was nice while it lasted.
Stephen quickly got tired to headed home for a sleep while the three of us went for a walk around the local streets. We wandered past the friendly neighbourhood monkey who was a delivery man today. He had a lovely thank you note for all the delivery people still working.
When we got home, Genevieve completed her animals challenge for Beavers. Stephen found her “wirm” particularly charming.

Sadly, James then had an epic tantrum that seemed to never end. It’s very clear how broken we all are. We need a break.
Genevieve decided to wear her Elsa wig for most of the day (including Grandma Lindsey chat time) despite regularly complaining about having an itchy head. She sporadically wore her dress too, notably at dinner time when she managed to get sauce all over the sleeve. I have no idea if it will wash out or not. Oh dear.

In the evening I joined a Zoom birthday party/drinking session for my friend Gemma. It was Take That themed – obviously – so we all changed our screen names to Gary Barlow and our backgrounds to the Take That logo. And we had all ordered Gary Barlow masks in advance (much to Stephen’s amusement). So, cue Gemma logging in to find a whole screen of Gary Barlows looking back at her. It was quite wierd but she loved it and then had the fun task of guessing who was whom behind the masks.
A fun end to a (mostly) enjoyable day.
