The kids made pancakes with Stephen again this morning. The mix was quite lumpy (until Stephen sorted it) and flour ended up all over the table, but they had a great time cooking with Daddy. I feel sorry for families who only have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday – they’re seriously missing out!

I took myself out for another 6km run while the kids played in the garden. To my surprise, as soon as I got home James announced that he wanted to go for a run with me. Right there and then. Now please Mummy! Genevieve, however, resolutely refused to join the running adventure. So, with James by my side, I managed to run a further 1km on top of my previous 6km! I’m getting so much better at running longer distances.
Stephen had set up our new football net in the garden while I was out running. Genevieve and James had great fun kicking balls, dribbling around bean bags and scoring goals. They’ve both got a mean kick on them, although their aim needs some serious work.

The nearby NHS pop-up shop was running a cake auction that ended today. I couldn’t resist bidding on a lemon meringue cake and, to my delight, I managed to win it. Epic!
Stephen went for a sleep so the kids and I took a slice of cake over to my friend Gemma (who was very grateful) and then went for a quick walk to check on the friendly neighbourhood monkey. Today he was walking his dog (who I was glad to see was on a lead – even toy monkeys need to follow lockdown guidance!).
When Stephen woke up I dug the Mr Frosty out of the cupboard. The kids had seen it when I was cleaning the other day and have been bugging us about it ever since. It was a lot of hard work to get a minuscule amount of shaved ice out (certainly nowhere near as easy as the adverts make it look), and the handle felt like it was about to snap off at any second. So, we ended up cheating and just blitzed some ice in the blender. Winning!

For dinner we had homemade pizza including, for the first time ever, pizza dough made from scratch. I followed an Aldi recipe that worked a treat. After the first prove it was enormous. The whole thing was easy and very, very tasty!
