Another post co-written with Grandad Lawrie.
Another early morning call from James was followed by Genevieve declaring that she had lost one of her front teeth. The aforementioned tooth was presented to Grandma and Grandad who suggested that the tooth fairy would probably want to visit Genevieve at her own home in a couple of days’ time. This suggestion was readily accepted by a ‘gappy’ young girl.

Breakfast and a few episodes of Team Umizoomi then followed until it was time again for Genevieve’s home-schooling. This was greeted by her in the same manner as in previous days – with the written work given an ‘I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I won’t do it” attitude. One and a quarter hours later the huffing and puffing had finished and the work completed.
At the same time, James was very happily playing ‘Stomach Ache’ with Grandad and ensuring that he would win by having a sneaky peak at the cards before each game. This was followed by ‘who can build the tallest Duplo tower’, with James concentrating on demolishing everything that he had not constructed – although, in the end, he was very happy to top-off Grandad’s monster tower and call it his own.

The children turned down all offers for varying the content of their lunch; insisting on the usual jam and salami sandwiches.
Relaxing in front of the Minions film followed lunch, and after it was agreed that it was just too hot to run around the garden.
With something needed to fill the void, James suggested Bingo which, guess what, he won!

It was then decided that Grandad needed a haircut so, following some instructions from Grandma, the children took it in turns to set about Grandad’s hair with hair clippers and without a care in the world. Genevieve announced the result as brilliant; James was less impressed. Grandad declared the experience as interesting!
And there’s video evidence too!
Grandad’s famous meatballs at last for dinner and all is good with the world; well at 7 Hayes Chase at least!! Both children have been a delight to look after for the last three days and both Grandma and Grandad look forward to seeing them again very soon.
Stephen and I were very amused to get a breakfast toast message from Grandma Lindsey in the morning. James had apparently requested rollercoaster toast and was heartily disappointed by his boring triangles. But, Grandma being so wonderful did a great job with her second attempt! I just hope James said thank you!
Meanwhile in Orpington, I decided to have a lovely walk and walked over for a scone and cuppa (with social distancing) at my mum and dad’s house. It was good to see them and, despite the hot weather, the walk was lovely.
Stephen spent the day resting. As instructed.
