The day started very well with a lovely lie in followed by a run and then pancakes. Hurrah! Winning at life.
Today I not only wanted to run, but run for as long as I could. I knew I wanted to try to go for a longer run than usual and was pleased as punch when I managed 8km. And in a fairly good time too. Hurrah! It’s all starting to pay off. I’ll go back to my usual 6km for my midweek run but I’m totally building up to try to run 10km now.
Once I had got back from my run, Stephen was flagging big time so I showered quickly and tagged in, reheating the delicious pancakes that Stephen had prepared for me when he was cooking the kids breakfast earlier. He then had a three hour kip.
Whilst he slept, the kids and I watched the current favourite film of the moment – Ugly Dolls. They really love it. It’s a bit odd but never mind.
We had a surprise visit from my friend Kirsty and her daughter Emily who had kindly got a special gift for me and Stephen – afternoon tea for two. It was so lovely and very delicious! There was even scones, jam and cream, as well as scrumptious sponge cake. Yummy.

When Stephen woke up, Auntie Daisy and Uncle Ben arrived for some socially distanced drinking in the garden. They came in through the back gate – we took the distancing very seriously. It was so nice to see them and just felt like a really normal thing to do. The only difference being the social distancing and not being able to hug, of course.
Daisy and Ben brought gifts with them – a kilogram of tortilla chips and a jar full of gourmet nacho cheese sauce for us to enjoy. Well worth their trip to Costco! The kids were extremely impressed with their haul.
To make sure everyone was able to enjoy the treats, we had to set up a “no man’s land” in the middle of the garden for the goodies. Unusual times call for unusual solutions!

Daisy and Ben also brought a cuddly toy for James. It was one Daisy had won when we’d all been to Hastings in January. James had fallen in love with it at the time and was so happy to be reunited. Thank you Daisy! The toy pony was named Pinky Pie and soon joined the ranks of other teddies in the garden.
Daisy and Ben joined us for our weekly Sunday evening bingo with Grandma Lindsey and Grandad Lawrie. There was some amusement when I pointed out that James was sitting just like Stephen does. Very funny! The game was greatly enjoyed by all.

Whilst Daisy and Ben were here, James tried on his outfit for their wedding. He looks amazing in it. So smart and so grown up!

Once James had changed out of his wedding suit, there then followed a session of silly poses and funny dancing with Daisy. Shapes were thrown and poses were struck. Absolutely fabulous work all round!

Before we all knew it, it was dinner time so Daisy and Ben had to head home. Stephen was seriously flagging by this point, so I sorted the kids’ dinner and tidied/unpacked the shopping at the same time. I’m the queen of multitasking!
What a fantastic day finished with my favourite curry dinner and cuddles on the sofa. Happy Sunday!
